Executive Artistic Director

Deborah Haber

Deborah is the Executive Artistic Director of DEEP Arts, a non-profit focused on developing new artistic works. Previously, she founded and led the Rochester Children’s Theatre for 23 years, directing over 75 productions of popular shows. Haber also wrote and directed an adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and produced an original musical, Treasure Island. More recently, Haber co-wrote Sweet House, an original musical about healthy choices that reached over 100,000 students. She and her writing partner are now developing it for animation. Their successful collaboration continued with Moses Man, a musical Haber conceived after extensive research into her parents’ Holocaust survival story. Moses Man was showcased at NYMF in 2015 and is currently being revised to incorporate contemporary stories of displacement. Haber and her partner also collaborated with Indiana University on the “Art and Refugees” Symposium in 2016. This led to the larger project, “Finding Home: Shine the Light,” encompassing the Moses Man musical, a related art exhibition, and a documentary film exploring the issue of displacement. Haber has served as a panelist for arts organizations and received an appointment at Indiana University to further develop Moses Man. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America.

Casey Filiaci

Casey is a highly respected professional with over three decades of experience in music production. After graduating with a degree in composition from Berklee College of Music in Boston, he initially pursued a career as a jazz pianist and composer. However, his path shifted after discovering the world of music production and recording. Casey is a signed recording artist with Atlantic Records. He has received two Emmy nominations for "Best Sports Music" for his work with HBO and has earned multiple Silver Mic and Telly awards. His extensive credits include prominent productions across various media, such as theme music for the NBC U.S. Olympics, HBO's Main Movie theme, "When It Was a Game," "Inside the NFL," and "World Championship Boxing." He also created the soundtrack for the Baseball Hall of Fame Theater in Cooperstown and the film score for "The Next Big Thing," among other projects. Casey has collaborated with world-class musicians in studios from New York City to Los Angeles and has provided music for premier clients like Disney and HBO. He has access to a diverse range of musical talent for his productions and has worked across genres, including rock, hip-hop, jazz, country, and classical. More recently, Casey has ventured into musical theatre. His first musical, "Plagued--A Love Story," premiered at NYMF 2009. He has since collaborated with Deborah Haber, composing the music for "Sweet House" and "Moses Man," which was featured at NYMF 2015. "LIKAH!" marks their third collaboration in this genre.

Lisa Dozier Shacket

DEEP Arts is thrilled to announce that Lisa Dozier Shacket is now the General Manager for all DEEP Arts productions, including our developing musical LIKAH! Lisa previously served as GM for DEEP Arts’ NYMF 2015 (New York Musical Festival) production of Moses Man and continues to be integral to its ongoing development. Currently on Broadway in 2019: Be More Chill (www.bemorechill.com, www.lisadozierproductions.com). Her select Off-Broadway credits include Moses Man, Tennessee Whiskey, Hit Her With The Skates, A Letter to Harvey Milk, Unlikely Heroes. The Crusade of Connor Stephens, Vincent, Promising, Bedbugs the Musical, The Erlkings, Breakfast with Mugabe, Final Analysis, F#%king Up Everything, Sistas the Musical, Bronte: A Portrait of Charlotte, Ten Chimneys, The Duchess of Malfi, How to be a Good Italian Daughter, and The Diary of a Teenage Girl. Lisa's professional experience includes staff positions at New 42nd Street, Manhattan Theatre Club, Symphony Space, American Repertory Theatre, and NY Stage & Film. She served as the BFA Theatre Management program director at the University of Miami and is the founding producing director for Miami New Drama. Additionally, she has been the resident general manager for the National Alliance for Musical Theatre’s Festival of New Musicals for over a decade.

David Marshall

David is a multi-Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker and president of Blue Sky Project (www.bspfilms.org). His work as a producer, director, director of photography, and editor has taken him around the world many times. He holds a BS in photography/film and an MFA in fine art/animation. Dave's documentary films reflect his interest in human rights and the power of contextualized history. His work has been shown on ABC, Discovery, Hallmark, PBS, and in film festivals around the world. He received an Emmy for the 2003 documentary on the Great Lakes, "Hitching a Ride." "Autumn’s Harvest," a look at AIDS and America’s migrant farm population, aired on PBS and took honors at film festivals around the world. Dave is the recipient of twelve Emmy nominations and six Emmy awards. His films include "Swimming With Lesbians," in distribution by Frameline; "Songs of Freedom," broadcast on PBS and now in national distribution; and has been honored with Emmy Awards for Best Director and Best Children’s Programming.

LIKAH! Director / Puppet director

James Silson

James currently holds the position of Show Director with Disney Parks Live Entertainment, contributing to a wide range of productions at Walt Disney World and across the globe. Joining the WDW creative team first as Puppet Master, James provided puppet choreography for many entertainment productions including the THEA award-winning Finding Nemo: The Musical and Playhouse Disney—Live On Stage at Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, and Disneyland Paris. He also joined the Hong Kong Disneyland Opening Team and the Shanghai Disneyland Opening Team, choreographing puppetry for all venues in both parks. As Show Director, James’ credits include Happily Ever After Nighttime Spectacular, The Muppets Present - Great Moments in American History, Mariachi Cobre Presents - The Story of Coco, A Frozen Holiday Wish, and the all-new Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, debuting this year. Apart from Disney, James has over thirty years of experience in the entertainment industry, working professionally as a writer, choreographer, director, singer, actor, dancer, juggler, mime, and puppeteer in both theater and film/television. Career highlights include the London and United States world premieres of the play White Fang, in which he directed the puppetry; Goodspeed Musicals’ World Premiere of Jim Henson’s Emmet Otter’s Jug Band Christmas – The Musical, in which he originated the onstage role of Howard Snake, and Two For One, an original comedic production developed and performed by James and his twin brother, Scott. James also toured as a child singer in his family’s concert act, The Silsons, and originated his own band with his brothers, The Silson Brothers, composing, arranging, and performing original songs, a passion he continues today.

Stefanie Mullen

Stefanie Mullen is an artist and animator working full-time as a Senior Visual Effects Designer with Disney Live Entertainment at Walt Disney World, where she helps bring magic to life on stage and throughout the parks. She has contributed to a wide range of beloved Disney entertainment projects including Finding Nemo: The Big Blue and Beyond, Disney Enchantment, and Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away. Beyond Disney, Stefanie is fueled by a deep love for imagination, storytelling and nature. She could not be happier to share in LIKAH’s many adventures where whimsey, wonder and heartfelt moments collide. Based in Orlando, Florida Stefanie spends her free time sketching, wandering into new places and uncovering the quiet magic hidden in everyday moments. Every scene she draws is inspired by the stories waiting to be told.

Don Kot

Don performs regularly as a pianist, vocal coach, arranger, and music director. At The Cleveland Institute of Music, he was awarded the Valedictory Prize and the Madame Gwendolyn Koldofsky Award, recognizing excellence in accompanying. Don has been on the music staff of Lyric Opera Cleveland and was the pianist for master classes with Marilyn Horne, Elly Ameling, Gerard Souzay, Madeleine Milhaud, and Jan DeGaetani, among others. He maintains a performing career as a collaborative pianist and has had performances broadcast over WXXI and WCLV radio. Don is Resident Music Director at Geva Theatre where he celebrates his 25th season! Geva productions include Always…Patsy Cline, Sister Act, Once, La Cage aux Folles, Hair, Marvelous Wonderettes: Caps and Gowns, In the Heights, Marvelous Wonderettes, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Little Shop of Horrors, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, All Your Questions Answered (world premiere), Next to Normal, Sister’s Christmas Catechism, Avenue Q, Company, The Music Man, Five Course Love, Sweeney Todd, Cabaret, Urinetown, A Chorus Line, Camelot, 1776, A Christmas Carol (three adaptations), Convenience and as part of the Festival of New Plays, The Shaggs: Philosophy of the World, One For My Baby, rightnextto me, Tomorrowland and An Evening with Mrs. Kasha Davis, International Celebrity Housewife. At the New York Musical Theatre Festival, Don was music director for Moses Man and performed at the Pershing Square Jewel Box Theatre; he has also performed Off-Broadway at the 45 Bleecker Street Theatre, Laurie Beechman Theatre, and at the Toronto Fringe Festival. Other regional credits include The Music Man, The Best of Forbidden Broadway, Smokey Joe’s Café, Leader of the Pack, Honk!, and The Most Happy Fella. National touring productions: Fosse, Footloose, Fiddler on the Roof, The King and I, Mamma Mia!, and Hairspray. Don is the Coordinator of the Musical Theatre degree program at the State University of New York at Geneseo.

Moses Man Director

Joe Calarco

Joe is a multiple award-winning director and playwright. His Off-Broadway credits include Patrick Barlow’s A Christmas Carol, In Transit, R&J (adaptor/director), Sarah Plain and Tall, The Burnt Part Boys, Floyd and Clea Under the Western Sky, Boy, in the absence of spring (writer/director), The Memory Show, and Bury the Dead. He has extensive regional credits at theaters including Signature Theater, The Old Globe, ACT, Philadelphia Theater Company, The Shakespeare Company, Chicago Shakespeare Company, Round House Theater, Theatre J, the Folger Theater, Barrington Stage Company, and TUTS among others. His work has been produced on the West End, and he has developed work at Lincoln Center, Second Stage, Primary Stages, The O’Neill Musical Theater Conference, Goodspeed, the Yale Institute for Music Theater, Mercury Musical Development in London and the National Theater in London. He is the winner of the Lucille Lortel Award, 4 Helen Hayes, 2 Barrymore Awards, a Berkshire Theater Critics Award, and has been nominated for two Drama Desk Awards and the Evening Standard Award.

Sally Cohen was a professional performing/recording artist (Atlantic Records, MTV, ASCAP) and actor (Actors’ Equity, SAG/AFTRA) for more than 25 years, after which she became an award-winning local television entertainment/arts reporter for 13 more. Combining those two passions in 2005, Sally created Sally Cohen PR, a hands-on, boutique public relations firm that specialized in promoting some of Rochester’s most creative artists, arts organizations, and arts-related businesses for almost 20 years. Now semi-retired, she works with a few cherished clients including DEEP Arts.

Joe Trentacosta founded JT Public Relations to craft strategic campaigns for a wide range of projects, including Broadway, Off-Broadway, tours, films, and special events, as well as non-profits. The firm's recent projects include the films Wild Rescue and Godless (starring Harry Lennix), and the stage productions House of McQueen, Kowalksi, Anthony Rapp's Without You, and A Guide for the Homesick. JT Public Relations also co-produced Pen Pals and the Drama Desk-nominated Mama, I'm A Big Girl Now. Other notable projects include The Life and Slimes of Marc Summers. Tim Winter is a conceptual storyteller and designer who approaches every project as a creative opportunist. His experience spans from developing logos for small businesses to leading integrated marketing campaigns for major brands. Tim's passion lies in uncovering the hidden promise within each idea, bringing it to life, and watching it find success in the marketplace. His work has received multiple prestigious international design awards including Graphis awards for LIKAH! branding. This same creative energy is evident in his painting. As an accomplished oil painter, Tim specializes in contemporary impressionist landscapes, working both in the studio and en plein air. He exhibits his paintings in galleries across Upstate New York and Boston, and is a Signature Member of the Rochester Art Club, among other affiliations.
